Feodor-Lynen research fellowship to Witlef Wieczorek

04.10.2010

Witlef Wieczorek has been awarded one of the prestigious Feodor-Lynen research fellowships by the Alexander von Humboldt foundation in order to work towards "Optomechanical quantum entanglement and quantum teleportation".

Feodor Lynen Research Fellowships for postdoctoral researchers are the instrument with which the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation enables highly-qualified scientists and scholars from Germany who are just embarking on their academic careers and who completed their doctorates less than four years ago to spend extended periods of research abroad.

Dr. Wieczorek is the second Feodor-Lynen research fellow at the group of Prof. Markus Aspelmeyer at the Faculty of Physics, University of Vienna. Together with Prof. Aspelmeyer's team he will push the development of mechanical quantum systems towards the quantum regime and utilize mechanical oscillators for quantum information.
